For The Record ©
A Page Dedicated to Preserving the History of US Small Arms Parts Production
Welcome to the inter-net page which shows who (contractor) made what (small arms part) when (date of delivery). I encourage you to help build this page for future generations of collectors. 50 years from now very little will exist in original packaging and fraudulent reproductions will be the norm. See the bottom of this page if you wish to add your piece of history to this page. Credit will be given for all pictures used.
Items are listed by the markings on the packages. These may differ with nomenclatures found in military technical documents. In the Remarks section the Blue underlined text denotes a link to the individual's website. Thanks and enjoy.

Note 1 These were listed because of their scarcity. During WWII small arms parts from contractors were rarely marked with a date. There are a few exceptions, this is one of them. Barb King has found several Springfield Armory items packed this way. Very rare occurrence.

I encourage anybody who has something to offer, to please do so. Email your pictures in JPG form by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page. It is best to keep the pictures at 100 kb or smaller, otherwise I have to know ahead of time that they are coming. Just send me an email and state that they are coming. My email filters delete any file larger than 100 kb. If you do not have a photo editor, that is OK too. Save your raw picture to a disc and mail it to me. I will edit the photo and credit you once it is listed.
Please send only items that have all of the following:
- Nomenclature
- Contractor name
- Date
Some later purchased items do not have a contractor name; yet they can still be identified. By the 1980's many purchases were marked with either a FSCM five digit number or a CAGE number. The FSCM consisted of five numbers and an example is 34895. A CAGE number consisted of numbers and letters in a random mix. An example of a CAGE number is 5JT23. If your item has either format on the package, please send it. I will identify the contractor.
Please do not send any re-wrapped or depot wrapped items, only items with the above information will be accepted. The only items to be listed on this page are original contractor items.
